ENGADINE HIGH SCHOOL
Engadine High School with Laura Wells at Youth Eco Summit 2018
At Engadine high school we found one arts teacher, Natalie De France, who took the whole project on with a small team of students committed to sustainability – and carried off the Best Messaging prize in 2018. Ms De France also negotiated with Caltex for the use of disposable hazmat suits destined for landfill. After creating a wedding party wardrobe for the end of the world from dumpster items like plastic bags, chip wrappers and bubble wrap, the Engadine team had one afternoon with teachers from the drama department to work out a sequence that would create maximum impact with lights, video and music. The Youth Eco Summit team added a smoke machine and judges were “suitably” impressed!
